Mainly buying for

Baldurs Gate 3
Demon Souls
Returnal
Spider-Man 2
Silent Hill 2 Remake(if they don't fuck it up)

I regret buying a PS5 tbh so I can't condone this.

$50 is not enough to make it worth it.

Get a refurb'd Steam Deck instead imo. You'll be able to play most or all of those games (eventually)

It's not really an impulse buy if you are thinking it over like this.

It's my main system so whatev. JRPGs all end up on it. Spider Man 2, FF7 Rebirth. There's good shit. Gonna be a while before PS6 probably. Only gotcha is a PS5 pro releasing in next 6 months. But I'm probably gonna just stick with my base PS5 anyway.

I kind of impulse bought a ps5 some odd months ago and I don't regret it one bit. We are getting to the age where less and less games are releasing for last gen. One of the driving factors in me getting a PS5 was that FF16 wasn't releasing on the 4. Even Remnant 2 which has been my addiction lately didn't release on the 4.

Outside of that, the loading speed of the SSD is night and day compared to the ps4 and the buttery smoothness of the frame rate for performance mode or better graphics helps make it worth it imo.

Oh and the adaptive triggers. They are so sexy. Especially if you're playing a game like spiderman that makes great use of them.

PS5 is great unless you have a PC because then the only exclusive is the Demon Souls remake

Oh and that new Final Fantasy

Slim and Pro models are coming out this fall.

If you have the money to spare then do it. I have a PS5 and it's great. Loads PS4 games much faster than my old PS4 did, without signing like a jet engine. And I can get PS5 games day 1 instead of hoping they come to PC at some point 2-3 years later.

The new FF is only a timed exclusive and is likely coming out on the PC soon, maybe even Xbox.

It will likely come out to PC later, but not soon. I'd wager summer 2024 at the earliest.

The exclusivity deal with Sony ends December 31 2023, but in the last interview, Yoshida was adamant that there's no PC version coming that soon.

First of all, it is true that Final Fantasy 16 is a six-month limited-time exclusive on the PS5 platform. However, it is a completely different story that the PC version will be released in half a year. I will make it clear: the PC version will not come out in half a year,

Yoshida went on to say that "even if we start optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version comes out, we won't be able to optimize it in half a year, so it won't come out in a short span of half a year. I would like to release it eventually, and I think I will, but I am not at the stage where I can say when.
