[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

It doesn't really hit the dopamine as getting a new issue in the mail did. It was like getting a package once a month. Although it's definitely more convenient than magazines and I don't want to go back to that, it just doesn't hit the same.

i used to have some random nintendo power magazines i got from friends. only one i remember is the one that had the OoT trading sequence in it. then had a pokemon yellow guide book. don't think i have any of those anymore. pretty sure i gave away the guide book cause i thought i was too old for pokemon.

No. I did buy annual NFL/NHL/MLB yearbook magazines on the regular - since 1991... until The Sporting News quit about 6yrs ago now. I tried others, as bathroom readers, yet even they've all but given up.

Lego Magazine was kinda the first time I had mail to regularly look forward to.

Had a few VG magazines.

And the end was car magazines. SuperStreet/SCC/Import Tuner

Absorbing information by killing time in bookstore's magazine section is a lost thing. Used to read things to fill time, and therefore learn things I didn't look for in the first place. Now it's like, I only will read things when I actually am in a situation where I have to look it up. It's weird seeing guys claiming to be from "back in the day" on youtube (I respect the grind tho) and having the financial means and access.....and then some of the stuff they look at, they don't know what they're looking at, but I knew for decades just from....reading.

There's still Fangoria, and G-Fan, and Heavy Metal. TOYCOLLECTR is fairly new and is pretty good. Pro Wrestling Illustrated is still going. My local comic shop always has a full display of the latest nerd culture mags, though to be fair a few of them are from the U.K. Empire Magazine is pretty dope.

But yeah there's basically no physical gaming mags left in the U.S. RIP Game Informer.

I hadn't been receiving my mags for a few months. I had other stuff going on in my life so I hadn't really noticed, outta sight outta mind and all. But I finally did notice when I got an email telling me how to access the latest issue digitally, even though I always specifically ask for the physical edition whenever I re-up my membership and subscription. So I inquired and they told me it's only digital now.

I don't count killing the physical to fully transition to the digital as "the magazine is still going". Clicking and scrolling on a screen is just not the same as physically flipping through pages in your hands.

I owe the majority of my social development to late 90's / early 00's era Maxim, Stuff, and FHM.

Stuff leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to think back on nowadays, since its prime era had Greg Gutfeld as Editor-in-Chief, and the mag had a noticeably right-wing slant even back then. But their sense of humor was downright cutting-edge.

I still get a few, mostly promos though. They just haven't found a way to keep it profitable.

I remember as a kid when Nintendo Power, or a comic, or much later, Sports Illustrated came, it was a mini-holiday.

kids these days don't know the troubles of finding a safe place for their nudie mags

I had an old Mead 5 star zip up trapper keeper I kept them in. It was black so when I stored it up in the back corner of the top shelf in my closet it was invisible.

There was also a Wheaties Michael Jordan Olympic dream team box I kept for decoration that was a convenient fit for magazines.

Alternatively there was a small cubby above the covered walkway from the house to the garage. If I stood on the roof of the car and grabbed the rafters I could pull and jump my way in there. Nobody would look there. Was not ideal in winter though.
