Just to get this out of the way, there is EVERY possibility that any game involved in the poll will have spoilers posted in the replies. I'm going to ask that if you have to discuss a spoiler about a Final Fantasy game, mark it appropriately, using the spoiler box and calling out which game you're discussing. This applies no matter how old the game is, especially with the Pixel Remasters releasing and giving even more people an opportunity to play 1-6 for the first time.

Simple rules: Vote for the character you like the best and want to win. The winning character moves on to the next bracket, while the loser is exiled to the party bench, never to be used in combat again.

Who gets third place?

To fill out the roster, I included the full playable cast from 1-15 (excluding the MMOs), including 10-2 and 13-2. A few of the more prominent guest characters (that aren't also villains) made it in there. I also added the full (non-generic) playable cast from Tactics and Tactics Advance, and then filled in the rest of the bracket using main protagonists from various non-main-series titles such as Type-0, Stranger of Paradise, and The After Years. Seeding was based on the most recent popularity poll and any character that's on the bracket but wasn't listed received lower seeds based on chronological order of their original game's release.

Rounds last 24 hours, give or take, because when you're an adult things happen and you're not always around reliably to post the next round of a Final Fantasy tournament on a dying blue websight. If I know I'm going to be REALLY late posting the next round, I'll try to close the voting at 24 hours but leave the topic open for discussion until I'm able to post the next one. In the event of a tie, voting is extended until I check the topic again and see the tie has broken. If the tie refuses to break, we'll decide it with a never-controversial Lightning Round of votes. (no relation to the character)

Same thing happened in FF7, cause everyone knows Cloud and Sephiroth were 1 and 2.

Two whatevers in my personal character rankings in the bronze medal match is definitely weird for me. I'm clearly in the minority with holding no special attachment for VII.

Then again, the same's the case for X, and Yuna's at least getting a silver, so I'm definitely off.

I know X was a pretty big deal when it came out, but I was just kinda over Final Fantasy at the time. It had some great music as I found out, but other than that eh. I only the PS3 remaster for a few hours.

I am surprised Vivi made the finals. I honestly don't know much about him besides he looks the classic black mage and some other small things. FFIX is one of those games I really should try and play more, but the beginning is so drab. I am getting too sidetracked so uhh yeah.

I think it it was in the trailers but I'll spoil tag it anyways AllI know about Vivi is that he thinks he was mass produced and thus is trying to find his own identity. That and I guess the final boss comes outta nowhere.

What I know of FFIX though is that it did some cool like meanwhile segments you could play and once you got out of that early kingdom it opened up more.

FF9 is top tier, with FF6 and 10, in my opinion. FF9 features a lot of characters dealing with mortality, death, and the idea of what is life. It's actually a great example of characters being written to reflect on their place in the world, learn from traveling together and experiencing life, and coming to new values and beliefs based on their experiences.

It's wonderful.
