The past few seasons I didn't have much trouble staying in Diamond rank long enough to get the rewards for that season, but this season I haven't reached Diamond once. I won't discount the possibility that I suck more lately, but I've also been getting terrible luck with randoms. I get teammates that either never heard the word defense, or they ONLY defend even when we're down at the end of the game, or they DC a lot, or they just give up and talk shit or throw the match at the slightest provocation. I can barely even get out of Platinum II for very long.

Yeah I had to regain Diamond 3+ times before I got the 10 wins, last time I played it (few years ago at least). I kept dropping down to Platinum again.

I swear my teammates were worse as diamond than they were as platinum. Nothing else you can do other than stay persistent. Or find some people to play with

Aaand back down to Plat II-II.

I tried a new strategy in Rumble mode - I stay on defense fucking babysitting, until I get a good power and opportunity to use it. It's working fine so far - except I'm still getting people disconnecting, and dumbasses nearly getting own goals from midfield.

Platinum I-III. I really don't think it's me because most often than not I'm scoring more points than any other player, whether through goals or saves.

well, i'm plat in 2's, but i mainly play 3's so i don't really count plat in 2's

Well I had a long winning streak and got back to Plat III-II. Only losses were when people left. Guess I'll try again.

I think I've been playing a bit too defensively. My main style is to play reactively, watching the flow of the game, knowing where I should go/be, and striking when the time is right. There's been a few times on this losing streak that I got fed up and said "screw it; I'm scoring a goal right now," and did exactly that.

I've probably gotten as good as I'm going to get without learning air skills. Maybe for now I should trust the intuition I've gained and be proactive.

my current method is to watch everything except the ball

and it's probably obvious to everyone but me how ur supposed to play but, but i also have started to realize you can easily just predict what's going to happen. you can see enemy a and b and teammate b going full tilt after the ball, teammate b has boosted from the goal to halfcourt so they likely have no boost left while the ball is much more closer to enemy a and enemy b, the latter who just picked up boost, so of them, which is in a better position to hit the ball and where do i position myself to react to either of them hitting it in a way that i can respond to because teammate b is just going to full send at it and go flying over everyone and bounce off of the wall and float for a minute

it's when the ball hits a corner, either the four corners or the ground to wall corner that i get fucked up at because i still have no fuckin idea how that ball is gonna bounce when it hits it. it'll either go flying across the screen or just roll up or down with no rhyme or reason

I think the best thing anyone can do is just adapt to the current game and go with the flow. If that means being the set up man, so be it, if that means me playing defense, Ill be salty but whatever works.

its tough though, because sometimes you just naturally flow with one or two strangers, and other times you can never get on the same page as another group

Played like 16 games today and only won three. I also got two disconnects on my end and my controller randomly shut off twice. This season sucked.
