Somebody (in universe) actually had to build MechaGodzilla, and there is a specific logic/motivation in making it similar to Godzilla. Fun Fact: The sequel to that movie was supposed to be Godzilla vs Ghost Godzilla (the one that died in 1954), but they decided it would be a bad idea to follow up Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Godzilla vs Space Godzilla with Godzilla vs Ghost Godzilla. <_< ... Copied to Clipboard!
