it's kinda sad because he is basically impotent rage personified but he tries to argue with people and is just not smart enough to defend any perspective. a week or two ago he posted an obviously bullshit topic about biden and somebody came in and debunked it with a really well thought out post and octillery just auto blocked him because he made him look dumb and octillery just isn't smart enough to look at facts and adjust his worldview

That's when you stop and take a step back from the situation. Analyze and choose how you want to respond.

He says we need to identify our triggers and work on them. They aren't other people's problems. They are our own.

He says they are like emotional landmines. Just waiting for someone to step on one and then you freak out and yell at a person.

Yeah, I recently had a moment in my personal life where I realized my temper wasn't under as much control as I thought and over the past week I've been finding myself calming down and trying to avoid getting peeved about stupid shit that won't matter a year from now let alone a decade later.

idk why anyone is trying to change the subject, no one is anywhere near as unhinged as octillery aside from maybe caution or rod

If the direction things are heading will negatively impact your future/life in general, then what does not being reminded about that direction get you? Blissful ignorance before the end?

I don't view myself as a doomsayer. I'm not nihilistic. I haven't withdrawn from the world. I want things to be better specifically because I live for the future, to help others, and do my small part to help society become a place that brings happiness to people. Being reminded of what's at risk keeps me going.

And I'm not as angry as you all think I am. I can compartmentalize. I know how to take it easy and relax.

We actually just went over emotional triggers and "amygdala hijacks" recently in these monthly workshops we do at work. I honestly have become way less angry in day-to-day life than I used to be (even before I started working here). There are irrational and disproportionate responses to personal, individual triggers, and people should learn to better handle those for their own well-being. Wide-scale societal, existential threats seem to be a whole different animal than that though.

Its kind of hard to cut them some slack when theyre always attacking people. They dont have to be fearful and on the defense every time theyre here. CE isnt taking their rights away and neither are the users here. They need to chill. Theres no reason to be upset until the actual issue is taken to vote or taken away. Its like getting mad at something they think is going to happen before it is happening.

Stop calling it my mom's home. We have been renting a house for 3 years and I pay an evenly split third of both rent and other bills. I make the most money under this roof.

I work out there in the real world. I have a personal investment in the issues I am most vocal and adamant about. I'm not just shooting from hip with no skin in the game.
