Honest question: I use Lastpass. Is there anything particularly bad about them that should make me want to switch?

Yes. They get hacked regularly and they operate on a bait and switch model.

Additional question: Is the reason they get hacked regularly simply because they're the biggest one, and would that simply transfer to... Whoever becomes the next biggest one, in sequence?

I'm not trying to play dumb or be combative. I legitimately have very little knowledge into how password managers work. Previously, I just used various combinations of roughly the same password, which I since learned was bad.

No they're just not very secure. Thycotic / Delinea has never been hacked as far as I know and their passwords are way more valuable than shit you'll find in LastPass.

I know little about this, but arent passkeys tied to a device? One thing I like about password managers is they allow me to use all sorts of devices and have all my passwords in one place. Can I do that with passkeys?

If you're strictly ONLY using your brain, which implies using passwords you can readily remember, then you aren't using very secure passwords.
