In Chicago there's a shortage of cops. I'd love to give DACA recipients the opportunity to be cops here, esoecially how fucked they get due to their status.

Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, who represents Illinois 15th District, wrote on social media that the bill will allow illegal immigrants to become police officers, giving non-citizens the power to arrest citizens in our state. No sane state would allow foreign nationals to arrest their citizens, this is madness!
Meanwhile, her husband, state Rep. Chris Miller (R-Robinson), was in support of the bill.

My dad got really mad about this. When I asked why?, he said that non-US citizens shouldnt be able to arrest US citizens.

When I responded with I dont really put that much concern into how criminals are handled, it made him stop arguing.

(I do care about criminals at least being treated humanely, but for that sake of that argument, I knew it would stop him in his tracks.)
