The server was centered around music discussion which is what prompted me to join it. However, it was littered with teenagers, top 40 discussion and non-stop gossip about Lana Del Ray and Taylor Swift.

Not sure what I expected but I felt like my brain was melting every time I read the general there.

Nope. The only discord servers I join are game related. Either a game's official discord server or a discord server for a guild or group that I'm part of.

i quit the only public discord i joined tho bc the only active channel was dudes posting nonstop bhole and dick pics
it was a final fantasy server lol

I'm in a few general socials that are smaller and tight-knit, and adults only. They seem to be the sweet spot for Discord experiences.

I tried to find some alternative/punk/emo Discords but I can never find anything good. This one emo server seemed alright but I felt too old for it and I didn't take the time to get to know anyone so I just left.

I never joined an official partnered server, huh guess ya'd hope for more.

I didn't either, until I joined this one. I think Discord just picks out servers that represent very large communities and "partner" with them in some capacity. My guess is they get to test out beta features before everyone else, if anything.

Yeah one time I found a server on r/emo and joined up. I felt a bit too old for it as well, which is too bad because a lot of modern emo slaps.

Yeah being in a large server is chaos. The chats move a mile a minute because there's so many people talking. I've never encountered adult only servers though, only NSFW channels within servers. And most of those just turn into horny dudes spamming porn lol

I rarely join public discord servers because I'm usually in my own private discord server with my large group of IRL friends. The few public servers I do join are for video games I occasionally play and I typically don't engage in voice chats. I just browse the announcements and general chat.
