Not sure if anyone cares about this game but I figured I'd share. I've been playing since launch and I enjoy it quite a bit. I was originally uninterested, but I took part in the closed beta since I'm a big Crash Bandicoot fan and it was enough to get me into the game.

Crash Bandicoot 4 unfortunately soured me on the series, so I wasn't going to play this, but since it's free, I guess there's no harm in giving it a try this weekend.

Speaking of free weekends, a bunch of Assassin's Creed games have free trials this weekend as well - Valhalla, the Ezio trilogy and Black Flag.

I remember Crash Bash from the early 2000s. One of the favorite party games.

Based on what I've seen this looks kinda similar to Pokemon Unite, is that correct?

Also I'm kinda surprised a game like this didn't release F2P in 2023.

I thought that too, but there currently aren't any microtransactions in the game (besides the battle pass I think). I'm sure that will change eventually, but they've said that future characters won't be unlocked through purchase.

I gave it a try today, and it was okay, but I won't be buying the full game. It felt pretty solitary for a multiplayer game, like individual players weren't having much of an impact on the game state at a given time. I also thought that the character roles weren't distinct enough, although that could just be down to the three characters in the trial, and there could be some in the full game who have more unique playstyles.

Nevertheless, thanks for telling us about the trial! Now I only need to play Crash Boom Bang to say I've played every Crash game (I've played the Spyro half of the GBA crossover, is that close enough to Crash's half to count?)

Crash, Coco, and Dingodile are the most simple characters from their respective roles. Some of the other characters have more to their movesets. It's also too bad that the trial only allowed use of the plant and the fridge because some of the other specials are more interesting.

I've only played the Crash half so I'm not sure! Also that reminds me that I've been meaning to try playing Crash Boom Bang.
