Donkey Kong is a part of Marios legacy and is somewhat of a pseudo Mario character anyway (since he and others like Diddy do appear in spin offs, he even got his own campaign in the first Mario + Rabbids). His name is not needed in the title of the movie that focuses almost entirely on Mario, even if DK plays a significant role.

he was just a filler character and had no place for it in this movie it wasnt a good decision on there part

Spoilers. Mario probably didnt need to be in the movie either with peach with how brave and strong she was . When you seen her training Mario its like whats the point.

So they should have called the movie Super Mario Bros 2, since Peach is objectively the best playable character in that game.

Did you know super Mario bros 2 wasnt really super Mario bros 2 in Japan it was a game called test drive 2.
