Which is the more likely type of alien? Think about it hard. If FTL capable aliens were to arrive on Earth. What do you think their motives would be?

Depends on if intelligent life is common or extremely rare.
If rare they would want to study us and yeah tourism would be a thing. Maybe even use us to find solutions to problems they have.

Likely aggressive. Aliens are just as afraid of us as we are of them.

If they visit, the reason is likely one of the following:

-Research/waiting and seeing. "oh, hey a planet with a developing civilization. Lets check it out, then maybe check in on them with some lower tech drones every now and then to limit interference. We can talk to them once they actually get [technology they deem to indicate that its okay to start interacting formally here]. Or they will just kill themselves and just be one more tomb world that didn't pass the filter. We may colonize the planet afterwards if it has anything useful in that case."

-Aggressive humanitarian. "They are going to kill themselves, we need to intervene and save them from themselves before they finish killing their biosphere."

-Aggressive conquest/extermination. "We like planets that have a nice pre-oxygenated atmosphere so that we don't have to terraform some rusty rock instead. Tough beans to you, humies. We may or may not keep you tribals around to do work for us, depending on what we are like. Or maybe we will just eat you."

If they are around and passing by the Sol system, but choose NOT to visit, then their reasons are likely either peaceful or because its simply not worth touring. Or, Sol potentially being in an area under the control of someone with something similar to a prime directive, making it very hard/illegal to visit Sol.

I would argue dat any species dat has da technology for interstellar travel wouldnt need to travel across da galaxy to get a bite to eat.

Aggressive. If Aliens from far away found a way to get to us, then they are more advanced than us. Being more advanced generally means you don't care about life that isn't as advanced as you are to the same level as you care about your own. The odds are high that they will probably run some experiments on us. Caring if we live or die probably isn't a huge deal in that regard. There is also the idea of them just being conquers.

Aliens that would view us as pets or livestock.

You're ALL probably right. There are probably countless alien civilizations out there, each with their own histories and motives. Some are probably friendly, some are probably crazy and blood thirsty. Some just want to fuck. Let's hope the ones that visit are the friendly consenting types.

They want to fuck, but look like that one Tyranid model.

They arrive with perfectly peaceful intentions, but after less than an hour of interacting with humans they become so pissed off with us they decide to exterminate us instead.
