the bands were the ugliest.
Slowly, bands have/needed to become more aesthetically appealing, but the music quality has decreased.

Almost everything was ugly in the 70s. The clothes, the decor, the wood paneling on everything, the godawful color pallet of various shades of brown, pea green, and copper orange. There are a few exceptions of 70s beauty, but it's mostly drab and hideous. The music was the best though with the 80s after it.

That was the style at the time.

Reminder that The Rolling Stones relegated one of their members to being a roadie, because he was older and less attractive than the rest of the band.
