It honestly doesn't. Quite the opposite.

  1. UFO is a word describing actual things that exist. anything in the air we don't know exactly what it is, is a UFO. as such UFO have always existed
  2. in the unlikely event an actual alien craft or device crashed into the earth it actually doesn't mean aliens visited the earth. This one is ironic because these same people believe in aliens so much they claim they MUST exist just because of the size of the universe. Ok? The earth is known to constantly be hit by debris. If said aliens you surely believe must exist actually have crafts it isn't impossible that said debris had moved through space.
  3. A weird animal, like some strange ocean balloon creature that can move fast would be classified as a UFO until discovered. You presume either we have discovered everything in the earth or don't have the framework of understanding to comprehend that such a creature could evolve and be yet "unseen" or rather recorded as such. Like did you guys not see the movie NOPE ? this for example doesn't even need intelligence of the organism to be part of the conversation, just that they move fast and can live in places like deep ocean but also come out and fly around. or be virtually "invisible" in the sky through some evolutionary optic camouflage

Maybe people just think it's ridiculous that anyone thinks we're going to find out that the government has been covering up aliens visiting us the whole time.

Maybe I should assume the government is going to prove ghosts exists the next time they reveal the truth behind some unsolved phenomenon

There's a reason why we've largely switched to using the term UAP instead of UFO, because UFO is tainted with the association of aliens.

When majority of people use the term UFO and mean alien, that is what UFO means.

We are the only sentient species on earth, but that's beside the point.

People are excited and obsessed with this because they want aliens. A natural or human-created origin would be disappointing to such people. The same people who see something cool on Earth and go "This is like <fictional universe>". No, it's like something cool, interesting, transcendent, scary, etc on real Earth involving real beings.
