Jaime is cool but I wish we got a movie about Ted Kord Blue Beetle teaming with the one and only Booster Gold.

Didnt look great, but seemed fun. The production quality seems iffy, but if its entertaining then maybe itll surprise at the box office

This was greenlit at one point during the time where WB greenlit everything like Wonder Twins and 3 different Black Superman shows/films

I was curious how Warner Bros is doing this year and looked it up

Shazam 2 - $134 million with $125 million budget
The Flash - $268 million with $200-220 million budget
Magic Mike's Last Dance - $57 million with $45 million budget
House Party - $9 million with unknown budget
Evil Dead Rise - $146 million with $15 million budget
Mummies - $52 million with $12 million budget
Barbie - $382 million (and counting) with $145 million budget

Remaining movies are;
The Meg 2
The Nun 2
Dune Part 2
Wonka
The Color Purple
Aquaman 2

Those are some massive bombs they've racked up holy shit. They must be incredibly thankful that horror movies exist and that they struck gold with Barbie.

Looking like they could be losing like half a billion on superhero flops this year?

Booster gold sounds lame for a superhero name

I think it's too little too late no matter what now. The iron was hot 5-10 years ago.

I think the Marvel movies aren't a guaranteed success anymore either. Can't really blame Ant-Man on COVID.

If we're looking at the 2023 superhero slate;
Ant-Man: Quantumania - Flop
Shazam 2 - Flop
GOTG3 - Hit
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse - Hit
The Flash - Flop
The Marvels - ?
Blue Beetle - Will likely flop
Kraven - ?
Aquaman 2 - Will likely flop

Kinda nuts that we might see a scenario where only 2/9 superhero movies make their money back.

I can't watch anymore super hero movies. I want the 18+ sci-fi horrors back. Like the ones in the 80s and 90s.

I think the problem goes beyond WB and DC a bit.

I think The Flash would have done a lot better pre-COVID. It's not all on them I think even if a lot of it is.

Indiana Jones is also a huge bomb. Mission Impossible also looks like a struggle. Transformers also flopped. Fast 10 has been the lowest performing movie since the third one.

These all used to be very safe and reliable franchises and sequels.

I think people are just over it a bit. They don't want more of the same. That's gonna be a huge issue for WB trying to make another superhero cinematic universe. There's only so much that can be realistically expected from Gunn.

Seems like the magic formula at the moment is taking a popular IP and either do something new with it or make a movie that hasn't been done before. Superman will fit that bill but it's the other stuff I'd be worried about.
