iirc, it's something that people with ADHD can experience while doing a task, where it's difficult for them to track/get a proper feel of the passage of time.

Yup.

As an ADHD person myself though I can't say tolerating chronic and severe lateness is a reasonable accomodation in most jobs.

Not really a laziness thing but most ADHD people suffering it absolutely are capable of adapting to it enough to hold a job medicated or not.

I set a fuckload of alarms before work.

I have ADHD and I experience this on occasion, mostly when I'm enjoying leisure time. When it comes to serious matters, I actually have the opposite problem, an anxiety-inducing hyper-awareness of the passage of time that was brow-beaten into me because I was deemed a lollygagger, day dreamer, and so on.

Yeah, there's definitely ways to manage it. Where it gets me is when I'm actively working on a project and eventually get yelled at for skipping my lunch / accidentally hitting OT.

That's always fun when you're expected to be attentive and/or somewhere where you're expected to stay. At times like that you wish you could just disassociate from reality.

Yes, some people have difficulty knowing how long things take. They need to learn to prepare more things the day before, set clocks ahead to give them more urgency, and in general start getting ready earlier. They adapt, not expect the world to bend to them.
