not back then though

a plane like that would require a specific runway/airbase and would probably be flying incredibly slow.

Wasn't it a copy of our B-52 that the KGB got from stolen plans?

Not really.
Drones are effective until their electrical equipment gets jammed. Even if it's remote controlled, the person using it will be "flying blind".
They don't stand a chance against machine guns (if the person using is skilled enough to put some holes in the drone), stinger/lock on missiles, chaff, laser based weapons, some kind of emp/jamming based equipment and maybe a anti tank sniper.

They work on vehicles, because drones can fly high and remain out of vehicles line of sight, and dropping bombs without the enemy ever knowing their was a drone above them. Infantry is also vulnerable because of how fast drones can fly (at least until someone spots it).
Even with how unrealistic/improbable it is, I was more thinking of like...these drones/missiles taking a random civilian or more down in some kinda terrorist attack. Not a situation where I'm trained and have emps or machine guns and stuff.

My mind just wanders lol

Two nukes

What's stronger than two nukes? That's right, three nukes.

Of course it can done

There are already good theoretical answers like rods from God or an antimatter bomb

In fact the only real issue with rods from God is the material cost and aiming. If we just wanted to blow anything up with one, we probably could have.

Idk what rods from God exactly is but I feel like I have a good idea since I think I saw something like that from shows/movies.

Basically big ass pillars that are magnetically thrown at earth from some kinda space station to inflict huge damage right?

Yeah, get a tungsten rod the size of a tree and just drop it.

Then boom.

Doesn't need to be a literal rod. Any kind of orbital meteoric strike will have nuke-like devastation. It can easily surpass even the strongest nukes theorized.

you don't even really need to throw them. gravity is doing a lot of the work for you.

Pretty much, just about anything dropped from space onto earth for a ridiculous amount of damage from the kinetic energy. Whether it be an actual rod or something more similar to a large meteor.

You do need to throw them just not very hard. If you're smart about it you'll use that gravity slingshot gimmick where it loops around the planet several times before finally crashing down.

fair. theoretically, any old decaying orbit will do. but giving it some momentum will be very useful with aiming. and the less time it spends in atmosphere, the less mass and velocity it will lose. something something e equals .5 m v v something something something.

I think the future of weapons is now target specific.

Genetically targeted bio weapons.

Neutron Bombs, that can sterilize an area but leave buildings intact.
