I think the dog might have been a pretty bad mistake. He doesn't really add anything, plus he goes against the basic nature of Pikmin gameplay, since Pikmin are weak, except in groups, but the dog is strong by himself.

The graphics are just lovely, especially the lighting effects.

Ice Pikmin seem quite good. I had a pretty big shock when I froze some water and then it cracked. Wtf.

Targeting enemies is now pretty much automatic, which is REALLY dumbed down. This is obviously a bad thing.

It's crazy how you don't start off with the ability to have 100 Pikmin in the field from the beginning, but definitely interesting.

Not a fan of the dog or how high I can look with the camera. I've also heard they limited the amount of Pikmin that can die to 10, which makes me roll my eyes since the series wasn't hard to begin with. Other than that, it's been fun. It's criminal we had to wait as long between releases, the game doesn't look particularly complex to make.

This does seem more like Pikmin 2 than 3 or 1. Do you think it's from negative feedback from Pikmin 3? Nintendo often make hard games.

How are the caves compared to Pikmin 2? I know the cave system in 2 is divisive because it takes away from the usual focus of Pikmin.

They seem good. Basically the same, but with much better graphics. I'm not a big fan of the caves from the second game, though.

Waiting on Amazon but I played the demo.

Not a fan of the auto lock on or other dumb-down decisions.

The Pikmin death limit was debunked.

Oatchi is interesting but seems OP. I miss having a second captain to switch too.

The lack of coop is concerning.

Is there really no Mission/Challenge mode?

I always found that a weird criticism when it was only game 2 in a series, there was no "usual focus" in the series at that point. it still followed the "explore, find things, use your varieties of pikmin in more varied ways, avoid/beat bigger and nastier enemies" model, the only thing that changed was the scope. Pikmin 3 divided its maps up into individual chunks too, just not in a step-by-step cave model.

But someone here said that was debunked and there's no death limit, so I dunno.
