Zenkichi's story really feels like somebody played persona 4 and found the conclusion to Dojima's arc really unsatisfying and decided they could do it better.

Did anybody else feel this way with the whole, Murdered mother being investigated by Cop father while unintentionally ignoring the daughter left behind storyline that they both have? I mean, even the impetus for both of their character arcs is roughly the same.

Yes. Also Sophia's character development is very close to Aigis's character development in P3 - spending most of the game slowly trying to understand the specifics of what it means to be human. That one's more clich in general though so yeah Zenkichi's is more egregious.

When you lay it out like that it seems obvious, didn't think of that while playing. I didn't even connect the p3 aigis similarity either. I guess it's been such a long time since I played either 3 or 4 (a decade) that they were able to sneak one by us. Or two I guess

It just feels kind of like cheating I guess. It's literally Dojima, and the cooler Dojima. The more I think about it the funnier it is.

-They show Zenkichi cognitive world pretty quick.

There's honestly a ton more too. I guess the one way they innovated him is with Kaburagi and flipping the Apprentice/Master relationship of Adachi and him by doing so.

Still, it's just sorta wild. I played 5R and strikers before P4G so it was honestly hilarious to see and think "...wait a minute, this seems familiar." The entire time.

One part in Persona 4 that really bothered me was why the protagonist didn't just stick his hand in the TV when he was talking about the TV world to Dojima in the police station to prove it existed.

I think I know what it is, we were so distracted by how they literally did adachi again in akechi for the main game, that it overshadowed all other similarities

And while yoshizawa is not the annoying ball of annoying that Marie was, they basically set it up the same there as well. So musta clocked out and not noticed those other glaring similarities

I noticed this yes. It doesn't matter to me because Zenkichi is fucking awesome, and he's the only Persona user that isn't a teenager.

Again, he's literally the cooler Dojima.

Although Dojima seeing the TV world and getting a persona would honestly have been pretty interesting in P4. He definitely has the qualifications throughout his social link.

Zenkichi honestly has the friendliest portrayal of almost any character I can remember in Persona. Even when you learn about his problems, it's hard for the player to condemn him after learning what you learn. They did a really good job on making him an obscenely likable character. And he's a cop, so bonus points for managing that at all.
