Well?

Other benefits including free healthcare, free housing if you cant afford it, free school tuition including universities and a multitude of other things. Just ignore the other things and look at what I listed. Would you be willing to pay nearly 2x in taxes? More like 75% increase instead of 100% increase.

Oh I guess I should bring up where this came from. A Youtuber I watch decided to talk about his country while he was playing a game. That place was Finland. He was talking about the taxes he has to pay but then said it was worth it because of the insanely low crime rate. He also went into other things like how housing gets paid for, medical care being free, etc. Everyome having housing seemed to dramatically reduce crime. I loved how it sounds and looked into it a little more. I would gladly pay that much in taxes for all the benefits I saw.

Without a split seconds hesitation. Im tired of being legit terrified to go to the doctor (even though I probably really need to) because of the chance that theyll find something wrong with me and Ill need expensive medication, or an operation, or something.

Cant afford surgeries / hospital stays as it is, but I also cant afford to be out of work for an extended period of time.

With less crime, imagine how much your insurance premiums would go down. That saving could offset the increased tax.

Yes, But it's likely to late for the US to implement something like this. Our federal expanseses are just to high now.

Decades ago during the countrys ages if peak prosperity would have been the opportune time. But that ship has long sailed.

Fuck no, that's over half my paycheck then >_> They should cut down needless spending instead cuz I see a shit ton of it where I work. And don't trust the government to not fuck shit up and just waste money either.

I can only speak from the UK side but my main issue is that Id feel like increasing my taxes wouldnt actually bring the changes promised because I dont trust the government to actually spend the money wisely.

To use actual numbers though

The Danish Ministry of Taxation has published an updated tax rate table for 2018-2023. For 2023, the bottom and top state personal income tax rates are maintained at 12.09% and 15.0%, and the maximum tax rate ceiling is maintained at 52.07%, which includes state, municipal, and certain other taxes

And I believe those are marginal tax rates, so not overall tax rate. So it'll probably still be much less than 2x current tax rates we pay.
I can't find the specific tax bracket levels though, but I believe the top marginal rate applies at like 70k salary

It needs a cap like no more than 50% of your total income for it to be fair on people who have heavily taxed jobs. Or else 1.75-2x taxes leaves them with nothing or needing to change jobs.

Sure, if thats what actually happens. Doubling our tax rate isnt going to magically turn us into Finland though.

source? The numbers I'm seeing show finland as having a lower suicide rate.

That is not what would happen if you increased taxes. If anything, that would increase the crime rates because people would be struggling even more
