Never forget that is borrows from Halo 2, the game that invented dual wielding. Dark Souls owes alot to Halo 2 if you think about it.

Fun fact,

Dark Souls is the first game to feature what they're calling a "health" bar. This would represent your characters physical state and would look emptier everytime your character requires medical attention.

Also, it often gets missttributed to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but Dark Souls was in fact the first game that let you pick up items and equip them.

The lead dev on Symphony of the Night got inspiration from A Link to the Past, not Super Metroid.

Meaning that the genre should acktually be called Zeldavania
