No one mentioned Lunar 2 conplete. Lunar 1 is a moment I like, but Lunar 2 improved on the original so much. Other than paying points to save which was also used to upgrade your skills.

That Sega CD was wild but yea we just talking about the Playstation versions.

breath of fire 3 was great imo. i feel like most people think 2 is the best of the series but for me it's 3. from the story to the main character (cliche in a way but original in ways too) to the music it is a quirky game that flaunts the ways it is different and it definitely hits home. i was never a huge breath of fire fan like many are but they are all solid titles and 3 is the best of the bunch.

another one of my favorite ps1 games. many people take great offense to the rushed and chaotic 2nd disc and while it isn't ideal, it doesn't take too much away from the game for me. the story is amazing and rivaled only by suikoden 2 of the games rated so far imo. the characters are well developed but the game really shines in the plot and through the various reveals. i remember playing for the first time and thinking how this game is wondrous and satisfying. a classic.

final fantasy ix

the ps1 final fantasy games are the golden era of ff imo. this is both nostalgia and genuinely what i believe are the best ff games. ix is a really great game. my unpopular opinion is that vii, viii and x are better, but ix is still top tier and a classic masterpiece. the story is second only to vii among the ps1 ff games and kuja is a really great and memorable and original villain. the characters are all really well fleshed out and the adventure is great from beginning to end.

i never played the actual ps1 version of p1 but played the psp version. i will rate/rank it with that context in mind.

p1 has a lot of charm but playing it after playing 2/3 probably influences my opinion of it. the story is definitely dated compared to later entrants in the series but it obviously introduced a really unique and different kind of rpg. the battles are fun and the characters are definitely something different and original considering the backdrop of what else was around when it came out. it's a solid game but i don't have the nostalgia glasses i probably would have had i played it before other games in the series and when it actually came out.

Remarkably similar to how I would rate the games listed so far, except I've never played a Suikoden game before though I've heard the second in particular is phenomenal
