Having a bunch of extra weapons and gameplay options in a game you like is really great, sure.
Lately though, I've been entertaining the idea that a game becoming a common topic/source of in-jokes among you and whoever you associate with is a much stronger incentive to replay than just the game having a lot to do on paper.

I think I'm on to something.
What keeps you coming back?

a sensible power creep cycle. get better stuff to do harder stuff to get better stuff. (lootgrinders, mostly)

This could mean a few things.
You mean just messing around with no end goal to kill time?
Or creating things you'd actually share with other people?

sharing is neither requested nor required. but if it's there for other people that's usually not a problem

Interesting combinations of things to try and explore, I guess.

Oh yeah? Where's the fun come from?
It's not unlimited. Something has to be happening to keep the fun supply up.
Edit: And you have a topic asking other people to tell you what you want to play next. That might factor in.

You know what else?
I think this explains not being excited for the idea of playing something new.

A game that reviewed well, seems fun enough, good music and all that? Probably a good game on the whole but you'll play it once, agree that it's decently put together and that'll be the end of things. No promise of a shelf life.
Now, a game that seems decent enough and also comes with a high chance to keep coming up in conversation and keep entertaining you even after you've already played it? That's promising.

I could have asked what's likely to make you want to replay multiple times back to back and what's likely to make you come back after leaving it for a long time.

Just to name a few.

I've played Ocarina of Time for years just looking to see if I can find new secrets and stuff.

Love using various Gameshark codes and stuff.
