That's absolutely stupid what the fuck? I hate the push away from physical disks. I'm not against digital but the fact that we can't even own what we're buying now is unsettling. And this is coming from someone who uses steam.

Again, not against Digital, at least give us an option :/

I prefer digital, but having physical releases with a download code is just a waste of resources.

it will have a day 1 patch anyway so it doesnt even matter

Wouldn't be as mad as the move to digital if everybody has reliable internet, but everybody doesn't.

Also this just makes the fact you can purchase that "Premium Edition Upgrade" release, which very specifically comes with a Steelbook for the game, even funnier.

proper physical editions don't really exist now anyways and haven't (for large games) for years now, it having a disk or not is not really relevant so focusing on that part seems a bit strange to me

if it's actually always online single player though, that's pretty awful

Im really feeling compelled to get back into physical media. Streaming shows disappearing. Lack of backward compatibility etc. Digital is convenient and all but I dont like where this is going.

Yeah those are huge red flags for the future of gaming and will probably be a trend in the future. Might as well stick with game pass to play the game in that case and not waste money purchasing it outright from the store.

I mean after Fallout 4 came with a disc with like 24mb of data on it I'm not surprised they did this. Also fuck bethesda if the game requires a constant internet connection to play

The maximum size the XSX/PS5 supports is 100 GB (BD-100).

Right but now there's no actual disc to go with it if you purchase a "physical" copy. It's like Sony putting steelbooks in their CEs.

Hopefully the internet does what it does best and the backlash is big enough to force them to produce disks and drop that online shit.

Blu-ray was around 60gb

Online only single player game? Shame, unlikely to play it then.

Regarding the capacity of Blu-ray. The PS5 supports up to 100 GB Blu-ray and I assume the same is true of the Xbox.

Its going to be on gamepass so no big deal for me.

You guys need to grow up and accept reality or get a new hobby. This is the future of videogames. Hard copies will die out and the very console will die out. Think Xbox Game Pass, that's it. Every major publisher is already moving this direction.

The entire court case Sony brought is literally just to slow Microsoft down from gaining too enticing of a games as a service catalogue, nothing else. why do you people think EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, EPIC, etc. have been putting out these launchers on PC and in many cases forcing exclusivity(on multiplatform third party games)?

There's so many examples of guys like you saying this and that won't happen it's too funny. Meanwhile every major new game is online, even single player ones. Meanwhile everyone is building a digital storefront and holding their titles hostage on them to force adoption.
