I saw an interesting tik tok just now, where a barista(who is obviously very far left) was making a meme about cops not tipping when they get their coffee. And the comments actually turned into a war about they shouldnt need tips in the first place.

I dont really drink coffee anymore because it fucks with my stomach. But my favorite coffee joint, any drink was always a dollar. So I always tipped 2-4 dollars along with my coffee. Starbucks usually a dollar. At restaurants if they ever comped my
bill we usually would tip 10-20 each to the server

I'm a great tipper, but I don't tip fast food people, and I consider a coffee barista as fast food. When I go to the bar to get an order of fries and a 7-UP, the total comes out to $6. I give them $20 and tell them to keep the change. I mostly go down there to get out of the house and to color, and have the chance to meet someone. That's worth $20 to me, so I spend $20. The bar gets $6, and the person who serves me gets $14, and now they all know me and I get better perks. For example, they had a private party last week I didn't know about. When I walked down there i saw the sign on the door, and then I saw one of the cooks dumping something into the trash and I joked saying, "I wish I knew about the party before I walked down here," and he told me to just come in and he'll get me my table in the back. I've also gotten free cups of soup and of course my drink is always filled up when I need it.

It depends what I order. If my drink requires any skill, Ill probably tip. If theyre just pumping me a coffee from a vacuum pot, I will not.
