Cashiers at stores I go to tend to be sitting down in a chair at the register, so.... not sure why they were included in the list.

lmfao at 3 hour shifts. Unless you're, or your daddy's the boss, that is absolute bullshit. Talk about giving yourself away.
Generally a free 15 minute break is required for a 4 hour shift.
So yeah, intentionally putting people on 3 hour shifts is pretty cartoonishly evil villain crap.

Unless things have drastically changed in the workforce for the US, which I highly doubt, 6 hour shifts are the minimum in retail, otherwise, they won't hire you. And that's part-time. lol 3 hour shifts. What a dream. Uber? Sure.

That's not entirely true. I've worked 4 hour shifts at every job I've had, but also 8-13 hour shifts during the same work week.

Don't think I'm defending gators' anti-worker, ableist bullshit though

There's a weird boomer myth that if you're sitting down you're lazy and not working and if you're standing up then you're being productive.
It's that "clever" line some managers love to use. If you have time to lean, you have time to clean.

Should you be allowed to sit down and work a register? Yes.

Are you going to be able to get people out faster while mobile? Also yes.

To get some rest? For their 3 hour shift? Lol, okay. Funny video though, they probably keep getting yelled at to not sit on the counters so they thought of this. Cute.

And yah, imagine you walk into a food place and the employees are all sitting on counters or sitting in general typing away on their phones. Not a good look, at all.

CVS, Dave & Buster's, and the independent pharmacy I work at now when I'm in our retail side. For the latter, it's just once a month to make up for me working a Saturday.

What state you live in? Because anyone that asks for that here wouldn't get hired. I asked for 5 hour shifts at Wegmans, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens many years ago, and they all said they needed people that worked longer than that, hence I wasn't hired. Until I signed up for 8 hour shifts back then.

I doubt it as you think they work 3 hour shifts.
I've heard managers do that to employees they're trying to make quit.

So I can buy a whole series of them deciding to do that to gators.

3 hour shifts are common for highschoolers doing like a wednesday night shift. When i worked retail as a youngin, 5-8's were common.

But i guess now more adults work retail so 3hrs may not be as common

Buc-ee's only allows one 15 minute break. There is no break room, and you're also not allowed to leave the building.

You think workers shouldn't be able to sit, so no one really gives a fuck what you think or what jobs you have worked.

Yes. In many parts of Europe they have cashiers who sit down, and guess what? They are faster and friendlier than the ones here in North America. I used to work retail and if you were caught leaning you'd be sent to the office to get a write up. It's not natural to stand 7 1/2 hours of a 8 hour shift. This idea that it makes the person look lazy is nonsense. And even if it were true, I would rather look lazy and still have my legs at the end of a shift than collapse like I did so often after work.

from what I've heard, some countries in Europe have pretty much outlawed standing as a cashier. But at the same time customers bag their own groceries, which is essentially what happens now since Covid happened.
