I also coach and do a few other paid duties for the school so it ends up being closer to $60k before taxes.

High School Math, mostly the upper grades. PreCalc, AP Calc AB/BC. But also Integrated Math.

Congrats. The teaching thing gives me a headache just thinking about it but coaching is awesome. Living the dream.

Keep making a difference out there. My high school math teacher was 1 of 2 teachers I feel pushed me and really helped me grow. And I'm sure you've done the same for some kid also (maybe even one as undeserving as I was).

There are definitely a few kids that I've made a difference with. I'd like to be more humble about it but it feels good to know about.

Yea my location explains a lot of how much I make. School board even passed a universal $2k raise before this promotion.

I move up the salary schedule but going to the next level requires submission of a 6-year portfolio.

To be fair, my specific situation is pretty cushy. My biggest class size last year was 15. My principal is very supportive and hands-off on how I run things. A small, well-knit community means I have next to zero behavioral problems. And I can live well within my means.

yeah that definitely sounds good for the area. I live in eastern MA and it's expensive as fuck and I imagine rural Wisconsin is a bit more relaxed

60k for 10 months of work sounds great. Then in the summer you can tutor or something for extra money, or do summer school.

I suppose but a good chunk of rural wisconsin is basically the Deep South and a big chunk of the state is going hard with the book banning, anti-gay stuff, etc which has gotta be frustrating as hell as a teacher

You should teach abroad. You can make much better money than that.

Well I average about 50 hours of work per week with all of those extra duties so I'm probably on par with the amount of work as a yearlong contract would entail.

True. Our school has been petty good about it but there are districts out there perpetuating bigotry.
