I dont actually want a 2DHD Chrono trigger, I dont think it works well with its battle system and the original game already looks fantastic. It might very well be a downgrade, environment wise. If anything, I want a full scale FF7R style reimagining that isnt just the original game but slightly shinier.

FFVI pixel remaster is fine.

so Id go with tactics, which probably benefits the most.

Not really excited for the FF6 pixel remaster as it intentionally lacks things from other remakes. I want a definitive version, damn it.

But I've also never played the DS Chrono Trigger and that had some great new end-game kontent.

Hard choice.

On topic. Tactics. There are several things that could be fixed in an updated engine... The sprite limit being the big one.

This is part of why I think the DS version actively makes CT less perfect. That and the new translation, while more accurate, is way more boring. I usually recommend first timers play the SNES version.

If I had to pick I'd pick Final Fantasy Tactics on the basis that both the old and new English translations suck donkey balls and a remake might get us a decent one. But my real choice? Could we maybe have a new RPG instead? Perhaps even a new one in the style of these HD remakes. I think that'd be neat.

Sure, its optional, but thats not the point. You hand CT DS to someone who has never played the game before, theyre not going to know they shouldnt play the optional content. Theyre going to play it, and their takeaway will be game was mostly great, but had some parts that really dragged and didnt make much sense. Theyll have a worse experience with the game than they would have had if you handed them the SNES version.

It's a pretty herculean task to make me so disappointed in Chrono Frickin' Trigger that I couldn't even be bothered to finish it. The DS port actually accomplished this.

Chrono Trigger. We just got a good remake of FF6 that isn't 2.5D, but is still solid. And I don't like FFT.

Chrono Trigger isn't available on many modern platforms, and either a port or a remake/remaster would work for me.
