Which is the more laughable of the 2 where the participants were actually delusional to think their "protest" would do anything to change anything?

Occupy Wall Street had people living like they were homeless so that.

As laughable as the Reddit Blackout was, it at least had some miniscule chance that it could persuade a couple of weak minds at Reddit to do something. I'd put it at like a 0.03% chance.

Occupy Wall Street had an astronomically small chance of doing something. I wouldn't even know how to express it in a fraction or percentage. They had no unified message. No unified goal. No solution offered. And they were going against the most powerful, wealthy people in the world. The wealthy people in power saw it as nothing more than a minor nuisance that made for an entertaining news cycle. It was never a threat to anything.

I vote the Seattle CHOP zone thing as a 3rd option. People were literally getting shit stolen and the guys running it told them that they should treat it as an "unplanned donation" and to shut the fuck up lol. What a trainwreck that was >_>

I knew they were doomed from jump just because of this, but when Colbert interviewed a girl named Ketchup I knew it was fucked and basically started rooting against them.

Thank fucking god union proponents weren't so fucking dumb to reject organizational efforts back in the day.

The blackout at least had the creator directly acknowledging it, trying to do an AMA, and at the end having to resort to flexing their power to end it. It'll probably have some repercussions in the future as well.
Did OWS actually affect any of the higher ups.

Occupy wall street succeeded in bringing talk of the wealth disparity into the mainstream.

OWS was absurd because they werent even specific about what they wanted. The reddit protest could have actually worked if they didnt cap it at 2 days.

This really didn't happen beforehand? I thought I've seen 1% jokes in older media.

Lmao, no. The wealth gap has been a topic in the mainstream since the 1800s. Everybody has known it's a problem for decades upon decades. It's just that nobody has offered and backed a real solution that was supported by the people.

= "I became an adult and or got into politics around that time."

The debate has been around forever.

The "debate" has been around, but it wasn't as widespread. The American dream was still doable in the 90s, early 2000s. CEOs and rich people used to be more admired than despised.

Occupy Wall Street definitely made it more mainstream than it was before.

It had no hope of working, Reddit's showing right now they can just fire the mods and reopen the subreddits. Most of the ones still locked are just too obscure for Reddit to notice (and thus too small to matter).

OWS was a pathetic disaster. And I say that as someone who generally agrees with the idea-- but the implementation was hilariously useless.
