my city was always a pretty solid live music city but it feels like the music scene has just exploded in the past year or two, and now basically every night of the week there are multiple good options for live local or touring bands, usually with food trucks, beer, and entertainment for the kids

nothing better than a beautiful summer night with drinks and live music tbh

Here every weekend, usually Fri, Sat, Sun, sometimes Thursday also, they do shows here at a place called The Caverns. It's a show in a cave, when they do larger shows, it's outside above the cavern, but it's become a massive attraction about an hour or so from Nashville. It's an option outside of the city, as you said, music scene here has exploded especially in the last 10 years or so. Live music popping up everywhere and attracting people.

Id love to go the caverns one day, I saw Flaming Lips did a NYE show there last year and that sounds incredible

I worked at an outdoor concert venue in nyc for 5years and an indoor venue for 15 years and without a doubt indoor is better for a myriad of reasons, db limits, sound quality, lighting, bathrooms, air conditioning, a roof that keeps water out so many more

Yeah King Gizzard was here for a 4 day show, and Marshall Tucker is coming in a few weeks. Bonnaroo I think just ended, but everywhere around here is insane during the festival.

Ya, The Dead, or what even passes for them now, were in town this weekend.
You could totally feel the energy in the air, for better or worse.

Oddly enough though someone a few roads over was blasting music until at least 3:30 at night.
It didn't bother me, it was actually kinda funny in a way.

Outdoor venues are the way to go, as long as mother nature is playing along.

I went to 7 Bonnaroos and had some serious FOMO this year. The lineup was so damn good and it looked fun as hell on the Hulu live stream

I'd rather sit inside at home, in the dark, alone, with a good pair of headphones and listen to youtube.

Outdoors in the summer? Nope everyone would just die of heat exhaustion here

I can understand why you would like it elsewhere in the country, but the summer high is normally over 110 here

On the flipside: nothing sucks as much as a metal show at a venue with no AC during the summer.

Give and take.

Or...the lawn tickets are completely overpriced.

They were asking near $100 for lawn tickets for The Dead this weekend.
~That is insane. ((But also, Fuck LiveNation))

Also, you can sit just feet outside the gates and get almost the same experience. >_>

I waited 3 hours in the pouring rain to see Phoebe Bridgers last week. Totally worth it. They put on a hell of a show and the wet clothes felt kinda good in the Texas heat

Outdoor concerts sound better IMO. Most indoor venues are echoey as fuck and sound muddy

I'm going to 2 technically outodoor shows in August, but it's an amphitheater with a cover over like half the seating.

This venue has a cover over the stage, but not the crowd
