The most interesting thing is wondering who this group of people was.

A sword with the hilt smithed onto the blade like that was rare. It was like a whole family got Macbethed.

Funny thing is for as bad ass a sword as he had, the man and [presumably] his wife and child all died without the sword being used at all.

It also could have been ceremonial rather than something you'd stab someone with

Man that's crazy

It's beautiful. Looks like it came straight out of elder scrolls.

It could have been but they said in one of the articles it was the real deal. Just unused.

That was realy all I was suggesting. But this could have definitely been some nobleman. Weird how they got his whole family though.

Maybe I can't math here, but wouldn't this be closer to 3,400 years, not 3,000?
1400 bc. Quick wiki search brought up 2 cultures

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9An%C4%9Btice_culture. The hilt has similar markings

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_Bronze_Age

I think to a layman like me the first one is more likely

It's a +7 vorpal sword.

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy.

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
