NBA more than any other league is about the party, glitz, and glamor, it just screams Vegas lifestyle. And UNLV basketball was really big back in the day. And yet it's the only of the big 4 sports not in Vegas now that the Oakland A's are moving there. Will also probably get an MLS team before NBA.

Its more about the logistics of moving a team or expanding the league

and for a long time sports tried to avoid gambling, now theyre embracing it

Vegas will get an nba team, itll just take some time

Next time NBA expands Vegas is definitely getting a team.

Seattle and then Vegas, for sure.

The Las Vegas Bouncers, because there are a ton of clubs in Vegas that need security and they dribble the ball.

I would prefer Vancouver and Seattle tbh but Vegas does seem inevitable for NBA.

I dont think thats quite how getting a sports team in your city works.

NBA players like to party, Vegas is a party city, bring your team here!!! isnt quite the sell you seem to think it is.

Haven't they only been adopted within the past 5 years? Have some patience. Hornets need somewhere to go potentially

Clippers should move to Vegas since they'll always be 2nd fiddle to the Lakers when it comes to popularity in LA.

I think the clippers new stadium opens next year so thats not gonna happen

They actually talked about moving the bucks to Vegas like 8 years ago but now that the bucks won the chip thats not gonna happen either

That doesn't really matter much, they're still a top-10 most valuable franchise in the league (6th or 7th in the various lists I'm seeing). They're also currently building their own arena.

A single player from the 80s represents the entirety of the NBA in its current form?

The Warriors will move there.

The Golden Knights are by far the most popular team in the city and the Raiders havent gotten the same level of fan support yet.

Any of the California teams would have been candidates to move but they all just got new arenas, except the Lakers. Orlando probably doesn't need a team either, but their arena opened in 2010 and it looks like they do get fan support. Another candidate is the OKC Thunder but the ghouls who brought the team there would never admit defeat that fast. New Orleans is another weird fit.

The NBA has stated multiple times over the past couple years that relocation isn't happening anywhere, it will be an expansion team 100%

The beauty of the vegas teams though is they don't need actual fan support for the vegas teams specifically. People flock to the games from out of town to see their teams play the vegas teams. The concern though comes in those longer regular season sports like nba and baseball specifically where it'd be rare for someone to fly in for a 1/162 game in the middle of July or whatever

Football - 17 games a year, absolutely gonna fly for a game.

NHL - the team itself has a solid base and the arena only holds like 20k so it's not hard to fill capacity. Plus people on the strip with no care for either team might still pop in.

NBA - similar to NHL, the base won't take long to establish and doesn't have huge arenas either.

MLB - I'd be a little nervous here. Even if the A's don't suck, I can't possibly imagine flying in to watch the royals (or whatever) in the middle of july in a non-covered stadium. There should still be enough foot traffic though to maintain some semblance of attention. Especially when the owners start spending all the money they've been hoarding while they bide their time for the move. They'll be able to buy so many big names.

Vegas gets so much tourism and their teams are on the strip. It's the perfect setup, I'd love to go to their games when I'm visiting even if my team's not playing.

Needs? No. But NBA is gonna do it because of money. MLB will too, several candidate cities that want a team.

I always bring back the Sonics in NBA2k as division rivals with the Thunder. >_>
