Hopefully.
I did watch their last match against The Mets.

I'll probably be watching at least the start of the game at my friend's house.
He, like so many of my friends is a Red Sox Fan.

I kinda wish the rivalry would get reignited. I watched last weekend and it just seems so casual. A Yankees pitcher slid to tag the first base before the Red Sox runner got there and the Red Sox player did everything he could to avoid stepping on the Yankees player. Man, if that was the early 2000s you know the Red Sox player would have stayed in the base path stepped on the Yankee player and then we have a bench clearing brawl.

There are a lot of factors as to why the rivalry has fizzled out a bit. Obviously the players are one of those. The players are generally much more likeable nowadays on both teams. It's easier to root against players that you hate, and there were a lot of them back in the 2000's.

The rest of the AL East is also really good. The Rays have been cruising all year, the Orioles are finally good again, and the Blue Jays are a pretty good team as well. The Rays have felt more like a threat to both teams over the past 5 years than the Red Sox and Yankees have been toward each other.

Finally, I think the Yankees specifically have become a very stagnant franchise while the Red Sox are a bit more volatile. The Yankees always do well in the regular season and absolutely shit the bed in the postseason. The Red Sox have had a couple of bad seasons mixed in with World Series runs, and the team has clearly been much more clutch in the postseason than the Yankees have for the last 20 years.

Also, let's be real here, I think at this point most fans hate their own team more than any other team in the sport aside from the Astros.

Living in the northeast I can confirm that this is the most obnoxious rivalry in American sports.
