Wouldnt it scare the admins or whoever they are mad at more if they didnt say when it would end? Make it seem it could go on for weeks or months instead of the 2-3 days?

Many of subreddits is changing the end date to indefinite now.

I was going off r/pics which is one of the biggest subs. They said 48 hours. I guess my topic was late and people on Reddit said what I said causing it to change.

Because they want to be seen to do something but they know if they actually try to rock the boat in any real way reddit will just oust them as mods?

I hope people continue their exodus to reddit alternatives lemmy and kbin.

I guess we will find out how the Reddit admins respond in a couple hours or days. If they do oust them from being mods and replace them with ones alright have the sub open.

A handful of subs indefinitely going dark and Reddit will just oust the mods and change leadership. They'll get some negative press but that's fine. So they proposed a 48 hour blackout to remind Reddit that ultimately they are a community driven website, with their content being community made.

Between the AMA being a disaster and the evidence that it's a lot more than a few subs, more subs are now willing to go indefinite. The public support is high enough that they are willing to bet that Reddit will avoid drastic measures because of backlash.

That the subs going dark for 2-3 days are saying you can abuse them but they will still work 362 days a year. Also mentioned the stuff that will create real change is if the popular users on the platform stopped posting there.

I havent really seen any popular Reddit users say such a thing. Maybe I am not looking hard enough but it has only been the moderator of subs leading the protest.

Corporations like this refuse to bend their knee. They would rather tank and shut down than admit defeat.

There is no winning this.

I checked out Reddit today for the first time since Sunday, some of the subs seem to be back but there's still some that aren't. I notice /r/squaredcircle is still dark.

And a lot are already back too. I know people will look to the exceptions but the site is still usable for me and the ones that are still dark I dont use or have no use for. A great example is r/nba. They are still dark but I dont care basketball season is over.

All my local Texas ones are still down which sucks because I got a lot of my local news that way.
