Last time I went yall didnt even have chip and pin let alone contactless. Everything was old fashioned sign for it.

UK has had chip and pin for two decades now.

Credit cards do have PINs in the US, but that's only if you're going to withdraw cash from it. I don't think people typically do that here. We do have chips and contactless payments, though. The contactless thing isn't in all places, though.

Thats so weird. We have chip and pin for all cards. Why restrict it just to debit cards in the US? You might call them another name. The car assigned to your day to day account.

We don't use PIN codes for credit card transactions in the US. Credit cards are typically just tied to a credit account with a bank, and debit cards are linked to a checking or savings account that has your money in it. Also if you use a debit card as credit, you don't enter a PIN code here.

I don't get this.
The last time I visited the USA was 2014 and I was so confused by the lack of Chip/PIN payments for pretty much everything. And that was New York City.

So I was thinking when contactless became a norm in the UK I assumed you would have adopted that straight away.

How do you authenticate credit card payments then?

Doesn't Europe have like a really high amount of credit card fraud, and that's why they've been "ahead" in many of these credit card items

In the UK its limited to 100 then you need a pin. The idea being if someone stole your care they shouldnt be able to empty your balance without needing additional verification.

A lot of places just don't. I'd say the vast majority of stores don't.

Dont take the payments or just let you pay without checking? In the UK thats set on the card company end. Usually visa or Mastercard. Id assume it was global.

They let you pay without checking. If a fraudulent credit card transaction happens, then the creditor will issue a refund for the total amount and then maybe begin an investigation. Not sure if there is a certain amount the transaction has to be before the creditor will actually look into it, though.
