You get these shitty violent dogs.

Yes. They are shitty violent dogs.

Then a large number of pitbull owners realize they are in fact, shitty violent dogs a few years in.

They then throw them away and leave them.

Now we have an excess amount of dogs without homes and owners up for adoption.

Many, if not most are mixed with pitbulls.

As someone who adopted a dog, it's unfair that adoption has such a negative stigma because of these shitty violent

I've seen both ends of the spectrum when it came to pitbulls.

My uncle had a pitbull who snarled at me and would have attacked if not for the metal fence in her way.

Her son, however, was a calm-as-you-can-be friendly one who convinced my family he thought he was human.

I just had to put my pitbull down the other day. She never harmed a soul in her life. Well except opossums. She hated those for some reason but she never killed one cause she'd drop it when I told her to and those things are resilient bastards trust me I've tried killing one.

But she was good with kids and especially loved kittens and even cats. She with cats always wanted to act motherly.

I fucking miss her. Had her 11 Years. She was full grown when I got her. Some dipshit threw her over the fence of the animal shelter instead of just waiting for them to be open. She was wounded over that too.

I'm weird. I never want a pet but I end up with these rescue cases where it's supposed to be temporary and I end up attached. I still have a cat from something like that. We where told they'd be adopted out. I had the cat for like a couple Years before they came back saying they had some potential owners. Told them to fuck off she's mine now.

I'm not that big on pets but if one decides to choose me as its human I'm done. I can get rid of it.

Edit. Think that works out for the best too cause at first I have zero emotional attachment and I'm stern with them. They learn but still seem to come to me for affection after awhile. And that's where I melt

Dog vs dog aggression, of course. I don't think any bull breed owner would say otherwise, human aggression was not something that was bred in due to safety factors for dogmen in the pit.

And the degree of dog aggression varies with the individual dog, it's not a one size fits all. Some dogs are hot, some are cold, some in the middle.

Pitbulls are not particularly aggressive towards people. They are aggressive toward other animals. And it's not because of how they're raised, it's because of how they were bred. But they were not bred for aggression towards humans. Many dogs are also often mischaracterized as Pitbulls (and conversely, many dogs that are pitbulls, are mischaracterized as other breeds). Breed identification error is extremely high, both in shelters and in cases of animal attacks. It's worth noting: Pitbulls pass the temperament test at a higher rate than the general dog population.

When a dog attacks a person, the vast majority of the time (regardless of breed) it is due to irresponsible owners. This tends to be why people say "it's how you raise them". Because when it comes to aggression toward humans, the vast majority of the time it's the humans that are at fault, not the breed. And Pitbulls sadly have a lot of irresponsible owners (probably largely due to their reputation preventing good owners from owning them)

I have two pitbulls (American Staffordshire Terriers) and they are very gentle dogs. I am wary when they are with other dogs, and we have trained them. While I didn't set out to adopt a pitbull, we ended up with them when a friend moved to prevent them from being euthanized. Like many people, I was a bit wary of the breed. But now that I've had them for many years, I'm glad I brought them into our family. They're very loving, kind and sweet. I hope one day the breed sheds the many misconceptions about them people have.
