How much blame does the US deserve for Latin America

Between some and much IMO. Spain deserves the most and Portugal deserves the most for Brazil.

I'd say America takes the share of the blame for the modern state, but the foundation for that wouldn't exist without the European countries.

I don't know much about Brazilian history, but what has Portugal done in the past 130 years or so that compares to roughly 4 decades of supporting military dictatorships and civilian assassinations?

It wouldnt be fair to say the US is responsible for all of their problems, or the problems of the Middle East. But there is a clear and demonstrable history of the US fucking with countries in those regions, and not once has it been in the name of spreading democracy.

Rather a lot, and quite honestly the US should have kept Haiti and Cuba when it had the chance.

3 centuries of colonial administration that didn't give Brazil the head start that the British gave America and Canada.
