I already own everything Haven related, and I think I'm going to back this as well.

Do you play by yourself?

I have Jaws of the Lion, but I've yet to crack it open and learn it. Same for Mage Knight. Got both sitting on my shelf.

I bought JotL during Covid, got it all prepped, and then never actually played it.

I think there is a solo mode, but I prefer to play with a full party of four people.

I own both regular Gloomhaven and Jaws Of The Lion. Gloomhaven was super intimidating so i bought Jaws after hearing it was a nice introductory to Gloomhaven style of play. Played the first two chapters, been sitting on the shelf for well over a year now.

Someday, in like ten years, i might actually get my lazy ass going and plow through both.

what's it like playing a board game solo

i see a lot of them have 1p options, but i've never actually tried. i always figured it was just tacked on and not really the core appeal of the game

I don't solo game, I prefer the collaboration that comes about it.

Mage Knight is usually considered the game best designed for solo play.

Gloomhaven can be played solo, but you need to control 2 characters yourself, which might be alot to manage.

There are games that are strictly solo. Under Falling Skies and Warp's Edge are two examples and both are really fun.

I wonder how different it'll be to the first edition, and where the differences will be.

I'm also intrigued by the Gloomhaven RPG that they're doing.

I've got a group of friends that we're playing through Gloomhaven and it's been a blast. I do wonder if they're changing very much though-- I know they changed some things with Frosthaven.
