Path of Exile, trying to play any other arpg pales in comparison.
I was going to say similar.

A friend of mine gifted that to me many years ago and I never got around to it. Should I?

The Earth Defense Force games, anything that isn't EDF camp is a bore.

It's free. If you like arpgs try it. The learning curve is basically vertical at this point, but I've never played another arpg that was the depth and build complexity like it. Whatever dumb thing you can imagine your character doing, you can do. There's no guarantee it'll be good but half the fun is doing pants-on-head stupid interactions and making it work.

I thought this about rhythm heaven until I played Crypt of the Necrodancer.

Funny enough I can't stand necrodancer, I want to like it but it always feels "off" to me.

Nothing really. Closest it gets is like hollow knight.

That sucks. But it does explain it. I loved Hollow Knight and played that before Dead Cells. I mean other roguelikes are okay but do not compare. Vampire Survivor is addictive tho

I played Hades after a bunch of people recommended it because it was "like" dead cells and it's just not really anything like dead cells at all other than it's a Roguelite.

Playing Immortals Fenyx Rising right before Elden Ring REALLY put into perspective how bad the Ubisoft open world formula really is.

It was a fine game, but the format of moving from checkpoint to checkpoint just isn't rewarding exploration

Xenoblades raised the bar to me in regards to open world games along with X, nevwr play 2 and 3.

Elden ring did the same but just for this generation.

Two beautiful games.

Is it worth playing the original tactics if you've played tactics advance?

The original is better in every regard, in my opinion. If you're going to play it, opt for the War of the Lion version if you can.

Have you tried Undertale?
Not yet, it does sound interesting though.

Really? Dragon quest 5 is my favorite turn based JRPG of all time and I never really could get into another one.

No I guess I could go back to playing Beaten Kaitos and give Chrono Trigger another shot.
For real. Started with 4 and played through to 8, I went back and was going to play 1 thru 3 but I just stopped after 1 cuz it was so mind-blowing.
Chrono Trigger is pretty fun, that and Live a Live both have interesting plots/parties.
ATB system might be the answer to one of my complaints actually, I do recall CT having fast encounters....

Undertale is only an RPG in a narrative sense. It has very little in common with the usual RPG gameplay mechanics. Its more of a cross between text-based puzzle and bullet hell.

That isnt a criticism, just a heads up.

Assassins Creed Black Flag

Yeah I think I feel the same. Hell im.mad.it was an assasins creed game. Love they used typical assasins creed gameplay mechanics but I felt it shoulda been straight up a pirate game
