I got this thing on OOT the other day. It's nice being able to two-shot a Redead.
I think it sucks that they didn't do something similar for WW and TP. They let you upgrade a regular sword until it has similar damage but they never let you throw the Master Sword out the window and swap it for a two-hander with unique animations.

I like the idea that a random Goron can create something that outperforms the legendary weapon from the prophecy.

WW replaced it with the ability to pick up enemy weapons, TP... I guess has... the ball and chain? I dunno, but I do think they're poor replacements for the BGS.

Im going to play TP once I finish with totk :)

I'm now extra disappointed that they let you pick up the Phantom Ganon sword but they don't let you keep it or carry it into NG+.

For TP you could argue that the actual replacement is having learned all the extra moves like Mortal Draw and the rolling attack. But that sucks.

That sword was my jam. It was trouble to complete, but totally worth it.

Yeah that was lame. You get to pick up a bigass black blade after the permanently defeating a real annoying prick, but then you use it to break down a magic wall and it's gone forever until you circle back around to that point in the game. Big fat ripoff.

Eh, I wouldn't really be on the pro-side of that argument, because TP wasn't the first game to let you learn a new move, it was just the first to have so many of them.

I actually liked the challenge battle dungeon or whatever in TP because of all the different moves

That's as close as you'll get in TP.
If you're using them all then it's likely that by the end of the game your moveset will have almost entirely changed. I definitely had the side jump -> slash -> roll -> slash as my go-to move by the end.

They could have had something cool behind a sidequest too though. A possessed twilight sword that Link can just about control, that gives you the WW parry system or lets you inflict the shield bash stun on enemies just with regular slashes.
