It also helps that as a species we'll eat almost anything that runs, jumps, crawls, flies and swims regardless of if it's cooked, raw, rotting, or fermented.

We eat anything with four legs except a table, and eat anything that flies except a plane.

People were also a lot stronger and more sturdy back when we we hunter gatherers.

Stronger bones and larger muscles, they were closer to chimpanzees than they are to us strength wise.

Suddenly that stick with a rock embedded in it becomes a hell of a weapon.

Intelligence trumps all. One day we will be outmatched by an intelligent alien species, and it will be scary.

Were smarter, have better hand-eye coordination and can meaningfully throw to hunt as a result, and are much more efficient long-distance runners than any species.

We dont need to be faster in bursts or physically stronger with those advantages.

camping in bear country is a great example of this

but we can outsmart the bear

we invented bear spray, and guns. we know how to behave to manipulate the bear into being less aggressive
