Stardew Valley is a totally different game, wherein you have so many different things to do, but because of that, there's basically never enough time to do all you want to in a day. Until you unlock the mine carts, you basically need to take a whole day to do anything in the mines, for example. On the other hand, SoS is way more focused on a more "do whatever bro who cares" kind of vibe - you can run around town to talk to everyone and still have time to mine that day. Stardew Valley, especially in the early game, is really punishing with how limited you are to do... basically anything, and that can easily turn a lot of people off, where in SoS games people are pretty much immediately friendly to you and you don't cripple yourself farming in your first Spring. I also love the chibi vibe of FoMT - the style of Stardew Valley isn't terrible, but the SoS games that go all out with their art style absolutely blow it away. Rune Factory is almost a different problem - where because there's this big RPG element to it, everything else feels pretty simplified, until you dig a bit and then its complicated to a "how the ** was I supposed to know how to forge items together for an elemental boost?" and the actual chill farming vibe is a little forgotten because there's a story with actual stakes going on. Basically, SoS is a more accessible version of Stardew Valley, and Rune Factory is going for something totally different.
