To be honest, I don't really care for her music. It just "exists" for me. However, it's damn respectable that she mostly writes her own stuff. Many pop musicians can't even play an instrument and even fewer have the chops to write lyrics that actually work in a song. To my knowledge, she's done both for her entire career.

Regardless of that, she doesn't really connect with me and that doesn't bother me. There's a lot of musicians out there that I don't really care for but the fact that they have fans isn't some great mystery. The world of music is enormous and what works for me might not work for somebody else and vice versa. Big friggin whoop.

This is what im asking about. What are those qualities that make her stand out above the rest of her peers in pop music? If she isnt noteworthy for being a bombshell, is she known as a creative innovator musically or does she have a powerful voice or something?

no and no

not a fan myself but she consistently puts out hit albums/songs in an era of one hits and no hits

Some of her music is 'okay'. I like Blank Space and "Look what you made me do" but songs like "Shake it off" are meant to be inspirational and impactful but are completely clich. I wouldn't say she has the best music though.

I guess even America has sasaengs too.

Yeah iirc her parents were in the music industry, kinda, nepotism, it's hard to make it big, without that

Not really. Her grandma was an old opera singer and that's about it.

Her Dad was a rich investment banker. Taylor Swift spent her teenage years trying to be a singer but rejected one of the major labels (Sony Music from memory) so she could have more creative control.

That lead to her going with Big Machine Records who was an indie label. Her Dad invested in that company. From there she started gaining momentum. She had more control over her career and image than most and she still does.

The money gave her an opportunity to take the bigger risk (which is always the advantage of having money) for sure but it's not like she just knew someone and was handed a career. She doesn't really answer to anyone at this point. She's the boss and that's entirely due to the decisions she has made throughout her career.

I thought she was with a big named label and they wanted too much control and she left to get more control?

That was due to the handling of her masters. Which Big Machine overall owned. She moved to another label so she could then own her music.

The same year the guy who owned Big Machine sold the company and her masters to Scooter Braun's company. Which is why she has since made the effort to re-record them so she can wholly own her music.

Does she really write most of her songs? If so, that's really impressive.

I don't own any of her music but I do admit that they are very catchy and absolutely get stuck in my head when I hear them on the radio.

Also, I never thought she was more than "kind of cute" but it seems like the older she gets the better she looks.
