different stories that deal with revenge are going to have different motivations driving the characters (for Ellie, it was coping with her grief and guilt she felt for shutting Joel out for so long), and different consequences for their actions (Ellie is left alone and Abby loses almost everyone she cares about), but it doesn't mean the story isn't centered around revenge/that revenge isn't what's driving the plot.
