A whole lotta people are about to get a big cut in their available income for no reason. He should've just kept pausing it his entire presidency, it's one of the best things he did for young people and could've been a great motivator.

For sure. 4 more years of guaranteed additional monthly income for loan holders is a great push for voter turnout imo

So did his student loan plan just completely fizzle out? Last I heard it was going to the SCOTUS but I don't remember a decision happening.

Yeah. He broached the 10k forgiveness right at midterms knowing it would get the political points. No real point in bothering to waste his time fighting it until 2024 voting season rolls around.

I think we're still waiting on the decision. But I imagine it's already essentially struck down and they're just waiting for an opportunity to release it when there wont be too much backlash.

Well that sucks, in addition to the 10k they were also gonna cap how much payments could be iirc

The repayment plan was really the most important aspect for me, honestly. Idk if that is wrapped up in the case against forgiveness or not.

Yeah, was hoping that even if they lose the forgiveness they at least keep the caps on payments but who knows. IDK why you'd say anything about this until the SCOTUS decision.

Thing is there is also no plan on interest or penalty adjustments to make completion of repaid debt a realistic possibility within a 10-20 year span either.

You can bring the number down as low as it can go but it's meaningless if people are stuck with a dent in their budget until the day they die.

IIRC, the proposed payment plan had no interest, and payments scaled based on your income. Idk what you mean.

I knew about the income-based idea but I wasn't aware interest would not be included. Still kinda doubt that's going to fly.
