Ultimately what he's doing is good and those people lives will be better for it.

The thing I hate is that this is even necessary. I hate that governments aren't willing to take care of their people to the point where we have to rely on the charity of the wealthy and that shouldn't be the case.

It got shortened to 8 minutes I believe for extra monetization. You can still monetize shorter vids, though.

The fact is, regardless of what you believe his motives to be, he does make a lot of money off these vids as the money isn't 100% exactly coming out of his pocket I believe.

I mean, maybe the "internet" hates the thumbnail, but the massive casual audience eats up these thumbnails, which are younger audiences and more casual YouTube watchers.

The algorithm is just spitting out what people seem to enjoy based on viewership.

There's an argument to be made that the whole reason he's even in a position to do more good than most of us is because he's the beneficiary of and contributor to an exploitative system.

I don't really have a problem with him personally, outside of the fact that he never really addresses the elephant in the room; why do a bunch of people rely on the charity of billionaires for the ability to see?

Plus, the guy practically worships Elon Musk so that's a bit sus.

He did ask the question why the hell it took him intervening for people to get this help, and I believe even brought up that, even from a pure economical standpoint, having a workforce that can see seems to be a lot more productive than otherwise.

Sure, but I think someone with his resources could do a lot more than just lightly touch upon the issue.

Dude has MILLIONS of people who listen to him and shit-tons of money. Fixing an issue for a tiny percentage of the population and paying small lip-service to a problem while not addressing the factors that got us here is kind of bare minimum in my eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of this makes him an actual terrible person, but it's very much a classical "liberal" solution of providing a band-aid while not doing much to fix the issue long-term and on a larger scale.

His Thumbnails are obnoxious, but I'm very utilitarian about this. He's making a bigger difference in more people's lives than I would ever. I'm fully willing to admit I wouldn't be able to do half of the stuff he did if I had the level of money he had.

Random thought but I just recently learned Mr. Beast is 6'4 and this video kind of helped put this in perspective for me, dude is huge lol.

I always find it silly when people try to paint his actions in a negative light, people are too cynical and ridiculous.

I mean dude has a sub channel where all he does is philanthropy and it doesn't get the numbers his main videos get, so he doesn't have to do that. Seems like he's actually interested in trying to help imo. I mean so what if he gets all his money back? Is it only chivalrous if he ends up poor and homeless after helping people? If anything, its good that we've found a system where helping people results in being rewarded. Better him than pranksters and stuff.

This is where I fall on. I get disliking rich people/capitalists on principle but as long as Beast doesn't turn out to be a criminal I couldn't care less about how he makes money since he's willing to use it to help the less fortunate.

I just started hearing about this guy this year. I didn't know why he was so big and popular. Then I watched some of his early videos and they were insane.

Regardless, I hope he does the "Could a real person beat Super Mario 64" challenge meme that was spreading around twitter earlier. Now, that, would be a sick idea that unfortunately, someone like me, can't make happen as I don't have the capital to pull that off.
