I have like 100 minutes of standup written.

I have no idea if theyre funny because Ive only performed them in my head. always been too scared to actually try and perform, though Ive come close a few times. I always get the itch every once and awhile.

I am actually seeing two different pretty famous standup comedians next week (one Wednesday one Friday) and I feel like it might actually make me get so juiced I finally do ten minutes or so at a local open mic. But probably not because of fear.

I wouldn't say that standup is a good way to overcome anxiety by itself. I still get flutters and shortened breath from it. It has, however, given me a crash course in social skills from being around complex people and groups which I would have thought improbable not too long ago.

I tried early on to take material from my internet spaces and it didn't quite translate. All these years of reading through shitposts and stories has, however, given me an ability to sound funny quickly in a way which evades most comedians. I can throw in quirky non-sequiturs and phrases that don't work in most contexts but can get visceral reactions when I time them right.

I did a 20 minute set once. It didnt go badly but I didnt really get a buzz out of it so Ive never done it again.
