They literally have the same radio frequency puzzle thing where you move the left and right analog sticks to descramble something wtf. That's crazy.

Anyway the game looks amazing but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, why do the tutorial and help messages disappear so fast in their tiny 8pt font before I've had a chance to read them. Spidey's movement is so fast and fluid it's great but I have no idea how to properly web swing, I'm just holding down R2 and sometimes pressing x or L2 and R2 at the same time. Have no idea how to fight enemies, I'm just mashing buttons and throwing around objects to see what sticks.

Any tips or hints, maybe stuff the tutorial doesn't mention that's super helpful?

My fave spide game is ultimate.

Cuz of venom mainly and I preferred its graphics/artstyle over spiderman 2. My only real complaint is that it is too short and boss battles sucked (was a hit and run spam fest)

I suck so bad at this game. Combat isn't clicking for me nearly as fast as it did with Arkham, the perfect "easy to pick up and play, challenging to master" type combat.

I chose to auto-complete QTEs because they really shouldn't be in games anymore anyway, it's been nearly 20 years already.

It's Arkham-esque with a dash of character action flavor with the air juggles and whatnot.

Better than Arkham IMO.

So air launch enemies as often as possible?

I'm not sure how I feel about web shooting being a cooldown mechanic now... I'll have to learn to ration them during fights.

My last spiderman was gba mysterioso's menace and I liked the cartridge based web shooting there but also having items that I could use would be a nice idea too

Best single-player game of the PS4 generation, imo. Its traversal was every bit as fun as SM2's web swinging on PS2, but with top tier gameplay and story to back it up.

It recovers very, very quickly. It's more just to prevent you from webbing every single enemy at once.

And yeah, don't underestimate the gadgets. I went back to the DLC recently, having completely forgotten about them. I got my ass kicked. It wasn't until a side challenge forced you to use them that I remembered how powerful they were.

I played it and thought it was fine, but I just dont get the hype.

Yeah... ok yeah. I think I'm getting the hang of it a bit better. Dodging, sliding behind enemies, air launching enemies, using the web shooters to give me a breather. It's getting pretty fun.

I absolutely loathe chasing missions though. They didn't even explain this shit, I'm supposed to try to webswing fast to catch up to my target to press triangle near the target but only when the button prompt appears? Web swinging and zipline jumping is still something I'm trying to get a grasp on, but getting close enough for the tiny triangle popup window is not convenient

There are traversal side missions where you have to jump through checkpoints. Getting gold is obnoxious, but it did make me get really good at the swinging.

The traversal and chase stuff is a cakewalk once you get a good grasp on the swinging mechanics.

I didn't hate the game, but I did think it was overrated and very repetitive. Especially felt like a Ubisoft game with all the collectibles. I liked the Arkham games more. They had a better sense of progression with unlocking gadgets to get to new areas.

Certainly comparable to Arkham but much faster paced. I loved it

Running up city buildings so effortlessly reminds me of Prototype. If Prototype was a thousand times more polished and actually great. I'm torn between wanting to do and collect everything, and doing the main missions. Don't want to beat the game quickly; like most games I really enjoy savoring the experience.

Thinking maybe I'll just collect anything that's on route to the main yellow markers but not go out of my way for anything not on the HUD.

Man how can I intentionally kick bad guys off roofs I've only been able to luck out in doing it.

Swing kicks get the most distance on punting bad guys.

There's also a gadget which makes it hilarious and easy.

They really put your ass to the test on Spectacular difficulty though. Idk why that has to be an unlockable mode though when it's essentially the best balance of utilizing all your upgraded abilities against buffed enemies without feeling unfulfillingly too OP.

Also wish Insomniac added more context-specific features to certain costumes like cloaking for Spidey 2099. Iron Spider suit from Infinity War has the mechanical legs which is pretty cool but that's it really.

Stopping a vehicle without taking damage... I'm sucking so hard at this. I swear there's a delay in button registers in this game, I'm pressing circle to dodge while webswinging and it's not working. I thought I could cheese it by having the bullet invulnerability ability but the game didn't count that as completing the objective so I have to do it the "real way"

The easiest way to do that is to just be close enough to the car when the mission actually starts that you just instantly jump on it.

I changed my mind bomb challenges, those are the ones I hate.

I changed my mind again, it's drone challenges. These ones... hoo god these ones make me hate swinging, when I usually just spend most of my time literally swinging around the city from how joyful it feels.

For peace of mind I'm not gonna bother getting the highest ranking for those challenges if I already get challenge tokens regardless. Unless I need exactly that amount for crafting?

The drone challenges are super fucking strict with their gold medals, but getting those gold medals did teach me that swinging is actually slower than just constantly point jumping.

But no, you do not need gold. When I played the DLC like a month ago, I noticed I had like fifty of every token with everything unlocked. You don't even need silver, but there might be a trophy for that. I know there was a trophy in Miles Morales for getting at least silver in one of each challenge.

Marvel's spiderman was a fantastic time
and Miles Morales just added onto it, what a triumphant duo of games tbh

It cloud saves it though, I think? I downloaded Spider-Man to my PS5 and it still had the save file from my PS4.

Before playing this game part of me was wondering if I should have played some of the older spiderman games before Insomniac took over to get a hang of how spiderman handles after the early 2000s era, but the only one with moderately good reviews was shattered dimensions and the gameplay footage didn't look as appealing as I thought it would.

Hope I didn't miss out since they already removed them from the store ages ago.

I finally got it and good thing too, I was down to my last thug crime. That missing little checkmark was bugging me so much, I just had to get it.

Huh, more MJ sneaking missions? It's not a one time thing? Not sure I like them.

Now combat challenges, those I like. Those I have some control over and don't mind going for the gold.
