https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/0/8/8/AABd5gAAEcM4.jpg the only bad thing on there is the black stuff. Black Pudding. Its literally cooked blood. I think. I would never even try it. But everything else is delicious. I had that stuff in bed and breakfasts when I visited the UK in 2003. They I think knew Americans wouldn't want the blood pudding. It was never served. But I ate the rest of that picture. A lot of that stuff is things that Americans would eat anyway. Some of it is just things we aren't used to having for breakfast. But I dont think its stuff Americans would consider gross

That's a fuck ton of food. Do you know why they call it a "continental" breakfast? Because the rest of Europe eats small fucking breakfasts

You don't know what you're missing TC. There's nothing quite like British bacon.

The beans in tomato sauce are disgusting though. Nobody actually likes those except people who choose yo punish themselves.

Only the English could take something I love like beans and make it taste disgusting somehow. I love beans. I love tomato sauce. Somehow those 2 together taste bad in England

And the US has biscuits in gravy as a thing. That just looks like someone vomited over some scones.

And that one plate contains more flavor than the average British village gets in a fortnight.

Lol no. Scones are fairly bland without some form of spread and we have gravy.

Theres lots of bad food in every country. I always find it weird how the US goes for the UK on the food front though given that their food standards are incredibly low.

A British scone is basically a stone--it's only good purpose is to throw it at someone you want to hurt

I think what it is that food culture in the UK is generally shittier than in most other countries.

You go to France, or Italy, or fucking hell basically ANYWHERE, and people take great cultural pride in cooking well, in being adventurous, in perfecting recipes, in grandma's traditional X recipe.

But you do that in the UK and people call you a tosser. The basic cultural pride in the UK is to take something grey and put it in the oven at 180C for 20 minutes, that is what people eat all the time and what constitutes non-wanker food..

It's not like we don't have pockets of foodies, but I notice that particularly in working class communities there's somehow a sense of pride in how shit your diet is. There's a class element to this. Posh tories eat fancy exotic foreign food, whereas good hearty locals eat pie beans and chips from wetherspoons.

It extends to so much sadly.

Dress well? Tosser
Try hard at school? Tosser
Eat well/prepare meals? Tosser
Use more than basic words to communicate? Tosser

Obviously not true for all, but so many take pride in not trying. There is nothing wrong with those who dont wear the fanciest clothes or buy expensive food etc, but it's when you actively scorn anyone who does that I dont get.

I can see where youre coming from and I agree with that part. Its just the conception that you cant even get good food in the UK which annoys me a bit. There are definitively lots of fantastic places to eat, but youre right that a lot of people eat a lot of shit on a day to day basis. Id say the same is true of the yanks though.

I'm not against the concept, except stuff like blood pudding. In fact it sounds quite good, but maybe that's my 95% English ancestry in me, but almost every picture I see of an English breakfast looks...not so great for some reason. Beans on toast sounds good too.

There's definitely good food all over the UK, but I know that any time I bring something into the office for lunch that isn't either a Gregg's steak bake or a stew from the slow cooker then people look at me like I'm an alien.

My main conception about American food is that the portion sizes are completely crazy.

I lived in an admittedly pretty rural pocket of England when I lived there, but the only "British" food I think back fondly on is the pub food, and I know that's less about regular pub food and mostly because our village pub owner would make special dishes Thursday nights specifically for me after she found out I was an American. Our village only had two streets and the regulars were all old guys that definitely weren't willing to try new pub foods and she saw me as an opportunity to make something different for once.
