I still think it's funny as fuck that they gave a couple of the Wraiths random names like Todd and Michael and Kenny.

Dang, that's a blast from the past. Not as great as SG1 but still pretty decent, and the start of Jason Momoa's 'beast-like' roles.

How far are you in season 5? I remember that one had several pretty strong and/or memorable episodes.

there has been some crazy shit in this show. I do like SG1 better overall but this has a lot more of those near death situations they need a miracle in. haven't gotten tired of those yet so it's still fun

That was the one where Sheppard ends up tens of thousands of years into the future and a holographic McKay tells him about how everything went to hell without him, right?
That one was pretty memorable.

Personally I wanted to see more of 'the lost tribe' of the Asgard in season 5. Would've made an interesting plot element later on.

Rewatched SG-1 and Atlantis myself recently (skipped a few episodes here and there, but it was a rewatch i can do that). Still good.

SG-1 has 10 Seasons, its the first series. Ran from 97 to 07. There was a movie in 94 as well, but with different actors entirely, and i wouldnt say its necessary to watch to understand the show. (Maybe just a quick recap read)

Then you have Atlantis from 04-09 interspaced with the final 3 seasons of SG-1, and then finally 2 seasons of universe

I tried watching universe, but never could get into it.

And finally 2 SG-1 Movies Capping off the 2 main story arcs.

how far did you get? i thought the opening 3-parter was pretty good. then only one more episode out of the first half season. but after that, i only don't like 2 or 3 of the last 30. the last story arc they did was excellent.

I'm on season 7 of SG-1 for the fourth time. Love it. I watched Atlantis too recently to want to do it again immediatly. I'm considering Battlestar Galactica next.

Same here. Though I feel like I keep finding people that say they loved Universe and hated Atlantis.

I watched the original Stargate movie a couple months ago and I thought it was pretty good. Anderson is way better as Jack though

Well.. im the exact opposite i guess lol. Atlantis is the first one i truly saw.

...though i didnt get to see season 5 until years later, as that season was just so coincidentally not there in my country...

And season 4 ends on a pretty epic cliffhanger so... yeah.

Atlantis is basically what Star Trek Voyager is to Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, in the sense that it's kind of the same, but a little more action-focused and more episodic.

Stargate Universe is a whole different thing. It's much more drama-focused like the Battlestar Galactica TV series, which can be a turn-off to some people.
Personally I really disliked the first season, but felt that season 2 kind of redeemed the series as the characters became a little less whiny and a little more focused on the practical matters at hand. The characters Eli and Dr Rush are consistently great throughout both seasons, which can be a big help in getting through the crappy parts.

Funny enough, the only Stargate I haven't seen is the second season of universe.

Universe ties into the franchise in its own first episode.
